Minico vs. Wood River Highlights, Spring Ball, & Summer Camps

Congrats to the Minico Spartans on their 2014-2015 season! They finished second in their conference in the regular season and made it to the state play-in game where they came up short against an experienced Bishop Kelly team that shot an astounding 68% from the field. Minico has a bright future, losing only one senior starter.

Middle School Madness! West Minico 7th and 8th grade teams were regular season league champs, with the 7th grade finishing 20-0 and the 8th graders finishing 18-2, with one of those losses coming to East Minico in OT. East Minico 8th graders came up big in the final season tournament, beating West in the semifinals and coming up just short in the championship. East Minico 7th graders also had a solid year, finishing 4th in the league. Congrats to our Middle School Coaches Paul Afiaki, Dennis Haynes, Mike McManus, and Rudy Ramirez (and their assistants) for great seasons!

Mark your calendars! The Minico Boys Basketball camp will be held June 1st-4th for grades 3-8. The camp for grades 9-12 will be held May 18-20. Registration forms will be posted soon.

Point Guard College Coming to Ogden!

Just announced, Ogden will be hosting a PGC Essentials Camp this summer! This camp will be held June 29th-July 3rd at Weber State University, the week following the AAU Big Mountain Jam at the South Towne Expo. To learn more, watch the video below, and visit the PGC Web Site.

Course Overview:

The PGC Essentials basketball camps provide an intense, rigorous basketball training experience that teaches you what to practice, and how to practice, to excel on the court. You will learn all the habits and skills necessary for you to be effective against bigger, faster players. You will also discover how to train more effectively, so you don’t practice and practice without getting results. We’ll teach you how to train smarter and harder so that your efforts pay off.

Basketball, or any competitive sport or endeavor, will eventually challenge you in many different ways. How will you respond to setbacks, losing, injuries, being benched, unfair treatment, and all the other things that can (and probably will) happen in your basketball career? The things you’ll learn at PGC Essentials will help you with the tangible rewards of basketball—making teams, getting more playing time, and winning championships. But it will also help you with the intangible things—enjoying the game more, bouncing back from disappointment, learning to lead and influence others, and learning to thrive in the midst of adversity.
