Practice May 30th at 7:30

All players participating in the Buhl/Utah State/Boise Camps and Tournaments need to attend this team practice.  Please also pay for tournaments Thursday as well, if you have not already done so.  Buhl is $20, Utah State is $150, and Boise is $40.  Thank you and look forward to a fun June!  Go Spartans!!

2013 Minico Boys Basketball Camp Announced

The 2013 Minico Boys Basketball Camp for Grades 3-8 will be held June 24-26 from 8:30 a.m. to Noon at Minico High School. This camp will feature Minico’s new boys basketball coach Ty Shippen and his staff. Coach Shippen was the starting point guard for Ricks College from 1998-2000 and played basketball for BYU and University of Alaska-Anchorage. His camps include fundamental instruction, individual skill development, games, tournament play, competitions, and FUN! Participants will receive a Minico basketball jersey. The cost is $45 and registration is available at the door. (Register by June 20th to save $5.) Click here for the registration flyer.

Additional Scorekeeping Help Needed

If you know anyone who may be able to volunteer to help keep score for the Idaho Prep Tournament on Saturday, May 11th at Minico, please have them contact Ty Shippen at 208.390.9719.  We have coverage for Friday but need more help for Saturday’s games.  No prior experience is necessary. Thanks!

Writer Goes Through Minico Coaching Application Process

Last week, Minico High chose Ty Shippen as its new head boys basketball coach. He was selected from a deep, highly qualified pool of candidates.

I should know. I was one of them.

That’s right, I applied for the Minico basketball gig.

First step was to submit an application online at the Minidoka County Joint School District website.

Most the questions were straightforward: name, address, education, employment history, etc. Others were more personal: Have you been convicted of a felony? If offered employment, would you take a drug test?

Not in this state, and no thank you.

Summer Basketball Questionnaire

If you were unable to attend the meeting on May 1st at 8 p.m. at the Minico gym, please note that all prospective Minico boys basketball players need to complete the following questionnaire and return it to Coach Shippen:  Click here for the questionnaire.   You can drop it off at the Minico Counseling Office, or mail it to 626 Manchester Lane, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
